German international Kai Havertz just completed his transfer from Chelsea and says that joining Arsenal is “super exciting.”
On Wednesday night, the offensive midfielder finalized his transfer to the north London club in a deal reportedly worth £65 million.
Havertz spent three years at Stamford Bridge after moving there for £71 million from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old has now joined Mikel Arteta’s team on a long-term contract, inking a deal that runs until 2028 after scoring nine goals for Chelsea previous season.
After the transfer was finished, Havertz exclaimed, “It’s really exciting for me personally.”
“I’m overjoyed to join this incredible club. It’s going to be amazing. This club has such a rich history, and I think we can accomplish a lot. I really can’t wait to meet all the players and staff.
Havertz said goodbye to Chelsea’s supporters “with a heavy heart” in a statement posted on his social media platforms.
He continued, “A great thank you for all your support; together, we realized a dream of winning the Champions League.
Havertz scored 19 goals in 91 Premier League games while he was a Chelsea player for three years. He also scored the game-winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City.
