Former Ghanaian international footballer, Asamoah Gyan has revealed that there are ongoing efforts to persuade him to run for a seat in Parliament.
Gyan, who is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest footballers, shared this information during a recent interview on Asempa FM in Accra.
He expressed that there is a growing push from various quarters to see him enter the political arena and become a Member of Parliament.
Although Gyan did not disclose specific details or elaborate on the parties or individuals involved in this campaign, he acknowledged the increasing pressure he is facing from the people.
It remains to be seen whether Gyan will eventually make the decision to pursue a political career, as he continues to focus on other ventures and opportunities outside of football.
The 37-year-old announced his retirement from professional football on Tuesday in Accra bringing to an end an illustrious career that saw him smash prestigious records.
The former Sunderland man ended his playing career as Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 games while topping Africa’s chart of most goals at the World Cup with six goals.
